All year long designers have trunk shows to sell and show off their new merchandise for customers, buyers, magazine editors, and more. Designers will be able to get feedback directly from their consumers. Many trunk shows are held in a fun and entertaining environment with music, cool lighting, drinks, appetizers, and more. This Alexander McQueen video really shows what it is like to attend a fashion trunk show. Merchandise is displayed on shelves, racks, and even a small fashion runway is set up to model the new line for a small gathering of people. The show featured accessories from shoes to handbags, and many original unique dress designs.
Recently, designers have also been doing virtual trunk shows where you do not need a special invite to attend. Designers such as Donna Karan and Salvatore Ferragamo have started online trunk shows to show off their new collections. Virtual trunk shows provide special videos of each garment and a option to pre-order the merchandise before it's available to the public.
